Position Overview

Federated Media South Bend is seeking a Promotions Director to lead and execute all station promotions, events, contesting, and community engagement initiatives across four market-leading radio brands: 103.9 The Bear, B100, Froggy 102.7, and 95.3 MNC.

This is a hands-on role focused on planning, coordination, and execution, with additional operational and logistical support provided by a Promotions Coordinator. The Promotions Director owns the full promotions lifecycle from concept, through execution and recap, while providing clear direction, approvals, and oversight across on-air, online, and on-site platforms.

The role serves as the strategic and operational hub connecting Programming, Sales, Digital, on-air staff, and the Promotions Coordinator to ensure promotions are executed at a high level and on schedule.

 

Key Responsibilities

Promotions Strategy & Execution

• Develop, plan, and execute station promotions aligned with each brand’s identity and audience.
• Serve as the project manager for all promotions across on-air, web, social, email, and live events.
• Plan and oversee major tentpole events, live broadcasts, charity initiatives, concerts, and station appearances.
• Maintain strong working relationships with venues, promoters, sponsors, and community partners.

Contesting & Compliance

• Design and manage contest structures, timelines, rules, and prize fulfillment.
• Ensure all contesting and promotions are FCC-compliant and follow company guidelines.
• Oversee ticket inventories, prize distribution, waivers, and winner documentation.

 

Event & Remote Management

• Oversee all station events, remotes, and on-site activations from planning to execution.
• Coordinate logistics including staffing, station vehicles, equipment, signage, and branding.
• Serve as lead on-site representative at major station events.

Collaboration with Programming & Sales

• Work closely with Program Directors to ensure promotions align with station strategy and on-air execution.
• Collaborate with Sales to develop promotions that support client initiatives while protecting station brands.
• Evaluate promotional proposals to ensure brand fit, execution feasibility, and audience value.

Digital & On-Air Support

• Oversee promotional messaging across social media, websites, email, and on-air platforms.
• Write or approve promotional copy including liners, social posts, web content, and text/email messaging.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and brand alignment across all platforms.

Leadership & Team Management

• Directly supervise and provide direction to the Promotions Coordinator and part-time promotions staff.
• Assign and prioritize tasks, timelines, and execution details through established workflows.
• Lead promotions meetings, assign tasks, and manage timelines and expectations.
• Serve as final approval point for promotional concepts, messaging, and execution plans.

Reporting & Recaps

• Produce promotional recaps including photos, documentation, and sponsor deliverables.
• Track execution performance and provide post-promotion summaries to internal teams.

 

Qualifications

• Prior experience in radio promotions, events, or related fields is preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple promotions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for events.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
