98.9 The Bear Raises Thousands for Ft. Wayne Ronald McDonald House Charities
98.9 The Bear showed their support for the community this year by raising over $5,000 for the Fort Wayne Ronald McDonald House Charities. There were several promotional events created to raise funds for The Ronald McDonald House's move to its 9,000 square foot facility on the campus of Parkview Regional Medical Center. Turner Watson and Barry Thikk of the T-N-T Morning Show braved the cold and kicked off the fundraising with "Camping for Kids." The duo camped out at the McDonald's on Coliseum Boulevard November 17th and 18th, collecting funds for RMHC.
Online auctions were also held for funds featuring some highly sought after items that can't be purchased in stores! Auction winners received guitars from Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, All That Remains and Egypt Central. Other items that were auctioned included a VIP room at Piere's, the chance to be "Boss of the Bear," and dates with Rock Girl Megan or Barry Thikk. The funds kept coming in as
The Bear did a special "Storytellers" evening with Egypt Central on December 2nd. The evening was an intimate, exclusive 50 person event with all proceeds going to RMHC.
On December 3rd, the 12th Annual Electric Christmas featuring Egypt Central was held at Piere's in the Marketplace of Canterbury. Proceeds from the event all went to RMHC. Past beneficiaries have included The Fort Wayne Police & Fire Memorial Fund and The American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Fund. Since partnering with The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Fort Wayne,
